An elderly woman in Budapest's District VIII ended up in a tense standoff with police and firefighters Monday morning after initially threatening to jump from her balcony, after which she kept the police at bay with a kitchen knife.
Apparently what sent the granny, identified as Piroska néni nearly over the rails was that she was about to have her local council-owned flat taken away from her, as opposed to kids simply trying to have a good time.  Police were able to enter her flat through the balcony when she went back inside for a moment, and after entering the gas-filled flat managed to disarm the elderly woman after kicking her in the gut.
